God is telling me to keep studying....
…because its 3am and i have a final in the morning and my neighbor’s car alarm woke me up and has been going off for the past hour and i wanna throw a brick through his window or my head in an attempt to somehow relieve this noise…but maybe i’ll be thanking him if i do better on my test now?

Loveliest of Trees
One of my professors gave an insightful devotional in class the other day. He was trying to encourage us by showing that as we are working hard at the end of the semester and struggling to get things done, we need to find enjoyment in the work. He gave us this poem and I hope it’s encouraging to any of you who are stressed out or trying to “get things done.” Whether you’re...
Thoughts on technology...
Justin Taylor posted a blog a couple weeks back that was helpful to think through new technologies that come into our hands. Here are four areas he gives (via John Dyer) to possibly assess as we handle new technology in our everyday lives; he uses the mobile phone as an example:
Enhancement: What natural function or older medium does the new medium amplify or intensify? The mobile phone...
The Hitchens Brothers
Christopher Hitchens’ brother Peter Hitchens has written a new book that is to come out on May 1 titled: “The Rage Against God: How Atheism Led Me to Faith.” As you probably know Christopher is a popular “new atheist” which should make this a really interesting take on Christianity. Check out the video preview. It’s fascinating to see his brother talk about...
Technology...
I’ve been thinking about technology a bit the past couple weeks and how we choose to use it. Obviously there are great benefits to our society’s technological advances, but there can also be some huge drawbacks and I think we often might not really question the negative sides of technology in our own personal use. The next few posts I am going to just throw out some videos and re-blogs...
Manna.
This is a completely true story: I went for a walk in the forest by my house today. I brought my guitar along to play as I walked (I had just got done watching some videos on la blogotheque). The forest was really pretty and peaceful. It was overcast and on the verge of raining. There wasn’t a soul in sight. It was just me out there. As I was walking something strange happened: a bagel fell...

no snow...
I have been here for three weeks and today is the first time that I saw our lawn. It was really refreshing. It rained last night and washed away the snow/ice. It’s a nice change of pace.
Bran Muffins A la Me...
I made banana and berry bran muffins tonight…they actually turned out really good. They are a good source of fiber and a healthy snack. You should make some for a friend… or host a baking party.
2,003 miles. 30+ hours of driving. We made it… I just dropped Tim off at the airport. I’m probably going to go start unpacking my room and have the emotional breakdown that I’ve been anticipating. I’m glad to be here.
Nebraska...
It is -1 degree outside right now but that’s okay because weather.com tells me it feels like -12….I would have to agree with the experts at weather.com but I am still very curious as to who is in charge of the “feels like” portion of their information. Who exactly is out there feeling it out right now?
